Rangers have performed a last-minute U-turn and pulled out of signing Manchester City defender Kean Bryan after the 21-year-old underwent a medical, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper report that a three-year deal was on the table for Bryan, who was in line to earn £2.5million in wages over the course of the deal with a signing-on fee also included.

The Sun claim that Steven Gerrard will hunt for a left-sided centre-back elsewhere after Gers pulled the plug on Bryan, with no reason given for the club’s decision.

Good move for Rangers?

It is pretty hard to say whether pulling out of this deal is a good move for Rangers, with no details given on exactly why the club decided to not go through with the deal.

It must be assumed that an issue was discovered in Bryan’s medical which meant the club had second thoughts, with the potential for injury problems down the line.

It seems harsh, but if that is the case then Rangers must protect their cash and spend it more wisely elsewhere, on a player who they know they can rely upon.

Signing Bryan would have been a good move for the club, but there are also several other good options out there who they can sign before deadline day.

Likely to happen?

It looks like this one is dead in the water after Rangers last-ditch abandonment of the deal.

Bryan will surely be devastated after seeing a huge chance disintegrate so late on, but as mentioned, Rangers must be sure that there money is going towards players they can rely on.
