Celtic will not sell midfielder Olivier Ntcham this summer after Premier League side West Ham were linked with a move for the Frenchman, according to the Daily Record

The newspaper report that there has been no contact with the Hammers despite claims in France of the contrary, with Celtic determined to keep hold of the 22-year-old this summer.

The Record claim that Brendan Rodgers is looking to keep all his key men at the club as the Hoops look to qualify for the Champions League group stages for the third year running.

Ntcham played 48 games in all competitions last term as he played a starring role in Celtic’s season.

Good move for Celtic?

It is not a surprise to hear that Celtic will do all they can to keep hold of Ntcham, with the 22-year-old being one of the club’s best players in recent times.

The French midfielder has been an ever-present for Rodgers, and showed huge improvements in his game last season as he continues his development.

Ntcham has the potential to go on to become a world-class operator, and Celtic need to hold on to him as long as possible.

Likely to happen?

Interest from the Premier League is always worrying, with big money ready to be spent, but you would think the Hoops have a good chance of retaining Ntcham this summer.

The possibility of another season in the Champions League is a big draw, and Ntcham will no doubt be focused on the task at hand.

However, if the Hoops fail to reach the Champions League, or they disappoint in the competition once again, then Ntcham may be tempted to move on next year.
