Newcastle have not yet approached Swansea City about signing striker Andre Ayew this summer – and this is a massive relief for the Magpies fans that were concerned about snapping up the Ghana international.

News outlet HITC has recently reported that Newcastle are plotting a late swoop to beat Bestikas to signing Ayew, 28, this summer, which prompted some fans to take to Twitter and go berserk about the possibility of signing the Swans flop.

Ayew signed for Swansea for a second time in January in a deal worth £18million from West Ham, however he failed to score a single goal as the Welsh club suffered their first ever relegation from the Premier League.

WalesOnline has since offered an update on Newcastle’s interest in the former Marseille attacker, and they report that Newcastle are yet to make any sort of contract with Swansea over signing him up.

It is also understood that Bestikas do hold an interest in Ayew and there is a season-long loan offer on the table for him to head to Istanbul this summer.

It is starting to seem that the section of Newcastle fans who were concerned about signing the 28-year-old can now ease their fears and relax a bit more because it does not look as though Rafa Benitez is in any rush to beat Bestikas to the Ghanaian.

Newcastle do need to sign a new forward soon though, but thank god it’s not going to be the over-priced and under-performing Ayew.
