A section of Newcastle fans have been left raging after it was reported that the club is plotting to make a move for Swansea forward Andre Ayew.
News outlet HITC has reported that Newcastle are planning to make a last-gasp swoop for Ayew, 28, with the Ghana international currently being lined up for a season-long loan deal by Turkish giants Bestikas.
Ayew re-signed for Swansea for £18million in January when he left West Ham, but he failed to score a single goal as the Welsh club were relegated from the Premier League.
Some Newcastle fans have been left fuming over the reported interest in the ex-Marseille man, with one claiming that it is “depressing” to see the club linked with him.

OPINION
Ayew has never been prolific in front of goal since moving to England, and neither is he an out-and-out striker that Rafa Benitez needs to strengthen his front line. The Ghana forward has completely flopped since returning to the Liberty Stadium in January and Newcastle should not think about touching him. There will surely be better options out there for them to sign on loan, who are at least proper centre-forwards who can find the net on a regular basis. It makes you wonder whether the scouts are having a proper look. Newcastle just seem to be linked to obvious players all the time lately instead of going out there and unearthing a gem.
