Everton have wrapped up the final stages of negotiations to sign left-back Lucas Digne from Barcelona and the deal is expected to be announced within the coming 24 hours, according to Daily Mail reporter Dominic King.

The reliable journalist claimed via his personal Twitter account on Monday that the 25-year-old France international is now an Everton player, which makes him Marco Silva’s second signing of the summer transfer window along with £40million Richarlison.

French news outlet Foot Mercato has also reported that Digne is due to have a medical with the Toffees on Tuesday, which may mean that the official confirmation will come after that.

Good move for Everton?

It has taken Silva and director of football Marcel Brands quite some time to make additions to the Everton squad this summer, but they have well and truly got the ball rolling now and Digne is an excellent addition at Goodison Park.

The France international made 20 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona last season as they won the La Liga title.

He has also won two Ligue 1 titles with Paris Saint-Germain as well as countless cup competitions with the two European giants.

Leighton Baines is not getting any younger and could do with replacing, and Digne will be absolutely fantastic for the Toffees over the coming years to fill the void left by Baines once he eventually leaves.

Likely to happen?

It is really hard to see how this deal will fall through now.

Everton have more than likely got their announcement video and statements ready to go once Digne completes his medical and signs on the dotted line to officially become a Toffees player.
