Manchester City defender Tosin Adarabioyo is most likely to be the next Leeds United signing, according to Football Whispers.

The centre-back, 20, could be headed to Elland Road on what would be expected to be a season-long loan rather than a permanent deal.

Football Whispers, which gathers all transfer rumours across the globe and calculates the likelihood of them happening, rates it 3.0 out of 5 that Adarabioyo will join Leeds, with five the highest possible ranking and meaning it is a certainty.

He heads the rankings ahead of Derby County forward Matej Vydra (2.9) and Peterborough United attacking midfielder Marcus Maddison (2.8).

Good move for Leeds?

Yes, definitely. The giant centre-back has earned rave reviews for his development at City and has already accumulated eight first-team appearances, including two in last season’s Champions League. He could make a huge impact for a team who are crying out for a reliable centre-back or two to join with Pontus Jansson in what is likely to be a three-man defence in the upcoming season. Liam Cooper and Gaetano Berardi were used in the position in Tuesday night’s friendly win over League Two outfit Forest Green Rovers, but the pair are fallible and error-prone as well as continually walking disciplinary tightropes. Adarabioyo has the potential to be a considerable upgrade on both of them.

Likely to happen?

It was widely reported when Bielsa got the Leeds job that a number of Man City fringe players could be loaned by Guardiola to a manager he admires so much. Those potential deals have gone quiet in recent weeks. But this cannot be ruled out if Pep has no place in his squad for Adarabioyo. A loan would provide him with much-needed senior experience, although Leeds would have to pay a big chunk of his £30,000-a-week wages (source: Spotrac).
