Nottingham Forest have agreed to take Newcastle midfielder Jack Colback on a season-long loan, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper’s live blog [4.09pm] reports on Thursday that Forest are to re-sign the 28-year-old after he impressed boss Aitor Karanka during his loan spell in the second half of last season, where he made 16 appearances for the Reds, netting one goal.

The midfield enforcer is surplus to requirements at Newcastle at the moment, and according to the Shields Gazette, he is earning around £40,000-a-week at St James’.

Nottingham Forest have already made an array of signings this summer, and he is set to be the tenth following the arrivals of Joao Carvalho and Lewis Grabban.

Good move for Nottingham Forest?

Nottingham Forest are certainly making the most of this transfer window having made nine signings already, with Colback set to be the tenth.

Colback will offer them more stability in midfield, and will provide cover to what was a relatively weak back four last season, which saw the team leak in a high volume of goals.

His addition most certainly boost Forest’s promotion chances next season, especially if Colback has already had the experience of the Premier League, and Karanka will want to take advantage of that.

Likely to happen?

Yes, definitely. Forest have agreed to take Colback back on loan, so there is no chance that the move will back fire now.

Karanka has made a superb move in bringing Colback back, as he already knows what he is capable of, and the potential he has to put out even more impressive performances.

Forest are on the verge of their tenth signing of the summer, and it does not look as though they will be stopping anytime soon.
