Tottenham have joined the hunt to sign Porto playmaker Fernando Quintero following his dazzling performances so far at this summer’s World Cup with Colombia, according to AS.

The Spanish news outlet claims that Spurs and Wolves are keen on the 25-year-old, while La Liga giants have even made contact about his potential signing.

It is understood that the attacking midfielder is currently on a loan deal at Argentinian side River Plate and that they have the option to turn it Ito a permanent one for just £3.3million.

Good move for Spurs?

Quintero is a technically gifted playmaker that has catch the eye so far in the World Cup and Premier League audiences will get a close look when he lines up against England in the last 16.

He may have be on one Colombia’s standout players in recent games, but he has yet to really make a name for himself in the European league at club level and a move to the Premier League next season would be a huge ask for him.

Mauricio Pochettino needs players that can make an immediate impact in his squad and Quintero may not tick a lot of boxes for him.

Likely to happen?

Spurs seem unlikely to land Quintero this summer and links to him are fresh off the back of his World Cup performances.

River Plate are in pole position to sign him on a permanent basis from Porto, but he has managed just one goal and three assists in 16 appearances for them.
