Celtic have agreed a club record fee of £10million that will see Odsonne Edouard join the hoops on a permanent basis from Paris Saint Germain, according to the Scottish Sun.

The report reveals that the 20-year-old former French youth international impressed to such an extent during his season long loan spell with the Scottish treble winners that they were keen to make the move a permanent one.

Only on Thursday, it was reported that the 6’1″ (source: Transfermarkt) player’s representatives had travelled to London to tie up a long-term deal for the forward.

It is reported that with a fee agreed, all that is left to be done is the finalisation of the player’s personal terms, which could be completed in hours, in what is the final hurdle before Celtic secure a stunning return for their former loanee.

OPINION

There will be many who are not sure whether this is a massive mistake from Brendan Rodgers or not, to splash what is sure to be a large part of his budget on a player that was in and out of the side last season –  especially with a record-breaking transfer fee. Edouard played just 19 times in the Scottish Premiership for Celtic for last term, scoring six goals, three of which were a hat-trick against Motherwell. He will be best remembered for the effort he registered against their Old Firm rivals, Rangers, as the Hoops recorded a 3-2 victory at Ibrox, ending any hopes the Light Blues had of mounting a championship challenge. It looks as though this is a deal that is certain to go through now that it is in its final stages with just personal terms to be sorted. Despite his lofty frame, he does not seem to exert himself physically enough upon opposition defences, and his quality in front of goal at times is well below par, so it no surprise that PSG are willing to sell the player but the price that the Hoops are willing to pay is a shock.
