Leeds United have tabled a second bid for Olympiakos central midfielder Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe, according to Voetbal Primeur.

The Belgian publication claim the Greek club have rejected United’s offer for the Belgium international after also knocking back a bid from them two weeks ago.

Voetbal Primeur report Olympiakos are willing to cash in on the 29-year-old but want to recoup the £1.8million fee they paid Legia Warsaw last summer, while there is also competing interest from Anderlecht and Club Brugge.

Good move for Leeds?

Yes, certainly. The central midfielder, who can play in both defensive and attacking roles, would be a brilliant signing for United this summer. He would add a new dimension to a Leeds side that looked bereft of ideas and class in central midfield for most of last season, with only January signing Adam Forshaw proving consistent quality in that position. Forget the Belgian’s mixed spell at Norwich City, which included a bizarre short-term loan at Rotherham. Any player who has earned two Belgium caps, as Odjidja-Ofoe has, during a golden era of players for the national team demands respect. His age means he is unlikely to be a long-term signing but he is a class act and was good enough to appear in all 10 of Olympiakos’ Champions League matches last season, starting nine of them and scoring twice.

Likely to happen?

It appears there is a reasonable chance of Leeds signing the Belgian, although Marcelo Bielsa did insist at his press conference unveiling today there only be a handful of new signings this summer. Given the reported interest from Anderlecht and Brugge, Leeds face some stiff competition and might need to spend big to get him.
