Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to urge the club to hire former Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri after he suggested that he would be interested in returning to England.
Ranieiri, 66, has recently left Ligue 1 club Nantes and with speculation constantly swirling about the future of Paul Heckingbottom, Leeds fans appear to be unanimous in who they want to see in charge at Elland Road for next season.
The former Barnsley manager was hired by Andrea Radrizzani in February after Thomas Christiansen was sacked.
However he largely failed to improve the Yorkshire club’s form as they slumped to a disappointing bottom-half finish despite aiming to challenge for a spot in the play-offs.
Leeds fans have never been totally behind Heckingbottom and they are now urging Radrizzani to get rid of the manager and replace him with Ranieri.
One fan claimed it would be a “big statement of intent” to hire the Italian.
Here is a selection of their tweets:

A premier league winning manager coming to championship Leeds would be a big statement of intent.
Unlikely though, but I’d like it.

That would make my summer, a manager who has proved he can do big things without massive investment at Leicester

Ranieri has been in charge of some of the biggest clubs in Europe having previously had at Valencia, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Juventus, Roma, Inter Milan and Monaco.
The Italian led Leicester to a shock Premier League title in 2015/16 and also kickstarted an impressive Champions League campaign the following season before he was sacked with the club’s top-flight status in doubt.
