Leeds United fans on Twitter have been left blown away after it was reported that the club are eyeing up Manchester City goalkeeper Angus Gunn.

The Yorkshire Evening Post has reported that Gunn, 22, is firmly on Leeds’ radar going into the summer transfer window and the club are hopeful of snapping up the 6ft 4in colossus on a season-long loan deal.

Gunn impressed at Norwich this season, appearing in every single one of their Championship fixtures to help secure a mid-table finish. He made 51 appearances across all competitions and earned a respectable 16 clean sheets in the process.

It is now understood that Leeds want Gunn to provide competition to Bailey Peacock-Farrell for next season with Felix Wiedwald and Andy Lonergan expected to leave Elland Road a year after signing.

Wiedwald has failed to impress after signing for £500,000 from Werder Bremen last summer to be the new number one at Elland Road.

However the report says that the Whites “will” get rid of him this summer while Lonergan may want to follow him out the door after a move to Sunderland broke down in January.

Leeds fans are delighted to see the club linked with signing Gunn though and have taken to Twitter to rave about the club’s decision to go after the Manchester City stopper.

One fan claimed that it would be a “class signing”.
