Leeds United have had serious issues at right-back this season that have become worse since Luke Ayling’s major setback in January and it is something that could have been so avoidable.

Current Whites manager Paul Heckingbottom is having to use Stuart Dallas in the full-back spot right now, but that is not his preferred position and the same could be said for stand-in option Vurnon Anita.

Gaetano Berardi is another choice in defence, but his poor discipline means he will miss the rest of the campaign after his third red card against Sunderland.

Leeds fans were crying out for the club to recall Lewie Coyle from his loan at Fleetwood Town back in January, but he has remained with the League One club for the rest of the season and been a key performer for them.

The 22-year-old is somewhat a forgotten man at Elland Road after being shipped out on loan and he would have been able to fill the problem area for Heckingbottom.

He is an attack-minded right-back that has really excelled for Fleetwood this campaign and become a mainstay in their starting XI.

His path has previously been booked at the Yorkshire giants to break into the first team, but next season he is definitely worth of a senior promotion.

Coyle has the potential to be the next breakout star for Leeds after developing through the academy and there should be a real opening for him at the beginning of next season.
