Leeds United talisman Pontus Jansson has claimed he will ‘for sure’ remain at the club next season, but sceptical fans have taken to Twitter to express their uncertainty about his future.

The Sweden international has been a mainstay for the Whites ever since joining on an initial loan from Serie A side Torino in 2016, with that deal then made permanent last summer.

Questions have begun to be asked about the 27-year-old’s future at Elland Road after another failure to gain promotion to the Premier League this season, but Jansson has now delivered an emphatic two-word response.

Speaking to the press ahead of their Championship clash v Sunderland on Saturday, Jansson was asked if he would be at the club next season and replied, as quoted by Leeds Live (Thursday, 13:13) “For sure. This club changed my life, my football career. I said wanted to talk to people around the club. This club should be in the Premier League.”

The colossal centre-back has made 74 appearances for the Whites since his move from Torino, having been a mainstay at the back for two seasons now.

This season the Swede has made 38 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals while being booked an amazing eleven times in the Championship.

His leadership at the back for Leeds has led many to call for him to be handed the captaincy, with those calls increasing after he skippered Sweden during the recent international break.

Despite his emphatic response to the question, sceptical Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to express their opinion that he will be leaving the club this summer.
