Leeds United are reportedly set to sack current boss Paul Heckingbottom – and the club’s supporters on Twitter have rallied to demand Mick McCarthy is snapped up as his replacement.

Reliable news website Football Insider has reported that Heckingbottom will be dismissed as Whites manager, with the club deciding whether to make the call now or at the end of the season.

He has won just two of his 12 games in charge since his February appointment and his side were beaten 3-1 away at Preston on Tuesday night.

His position at Elland Road looks very uncertain and supporters have already turned their attention to finding a successor on the back of these reports.

Leeds fans on social media feel that McCarthy should be the next man to take the helm and he is now available.

The 59-year-old announced on Tuesday night after a 1-0 win over Barnsley that he was leaving Championship side Ipswich Town, ending his six-year tenure at Portman Road.

He is known to be a Leeds supporter and has twice won the Championship title during his managerial career.

Leeds fans are keen to have somebody with promotion experience and Barnsley-born McCarthy appears to “tick all the boxes” for them.
