Suspended Rangers duo Kenny Miller and Lee Wallace remain in the dark about the club’s decision to expel them, according to the Daily Record

The newspaper claim that Gers chiefs have repeatedly failed to respond to communication from the players’ representatives and PFA Scotland requesting explanation for their suspension.

The Record report that contact with the union is described as ‘dismissive’ and ‘minimal’, with the PFA extremely unhappy with the way that the club have dealt with the situation.

A source that is close to the players is quoted as saying: “Given the very serious and high-profile nature of this situation the lack of information coming from Rangers is incredible. The players and their representatives are furious at the way they are being treated and the concerns raised by PFA Scotland appear to have been routinely dismissed. There is an urgent need to clear this issue up but the contact from the club has been minimal.

“There are players who were inside that dressing room who know what did – or more importantly what did not go on – and they have not been asked to contribute to the investigation that the club itself committed to carrying out. It really is a staggering state of affairs all round.”

It has been almost two weeks since the duo were suspended following the Light Blues’ 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-finals, with Miller and Wallace reported to have rounded on manager Graeme Murty in a foul-mouthed tirade.

OPINION

This seems a sorry state of affairs for two men who have served the club well over the years. Their initial suspension was brought under question by reports that other squad members believed they had been hung out to dry by the top brass, and this latest development is not doing much to refute that. It looks as though the senior duo have been made scapegoats for the loss, with Murty being protected by the club hierarchy until his inevitable departure at the end of the season.
