Liverpool have told Real Madrid that £200million is not enough to purchase winger Mohamed Salah, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claim that the Reds will make the 25-year-old their key man in a new era at the club and will reject any interest Real Madrid may have in him.

The Daily Mail report that Salah is currently earning £90,000-a-week at Anfield and has four-years left on his Reds contract, but that the club are currently reviewing the terms of his deal.

It is believed that Real Madrid have plans to overhaul their squad but as Salah has no buy-out clause in his contract, it complicates their pursuit of the winger.

Salah joined the Reds from AS Roma last summer and has scored 43 goals in 47 appearances during his debut season for the club.

The Daily Mail’s report states that due to his form Salah has become an Anfield icon and the club want to keep him where he is.

OPINION

The Reds must do everything in their power to keep Salah at Anfield and this report is exactly the type of update Liverpool fans want to read. The 25-year-old winger is going to have a lot of clubs pursuing him in the summer, but the Reds can’t afford to let him go whatever the price. While £200million is an insane amount of money, Salah’s goals are probably worth a lot more than that to the club. The 25-year-old is capable of firing his side to Premier League glory next season after years of missing out on the league title. It’s interesting that the Daily Mail claims the winger’s value was closer to £100million in December as it just shows his meteoric rise in world football.
