Eddie Gray has waxed lyrical about Leeds United goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell and feels he has made a positive impact since he broke into the starting XI.

The 21-year-old earned man of the match on Saturday as the Whites were held to a 1-1 draw against Sunderland at Elland Road.

He is yet to keep a clean sheet in his six appearances this campaign, but Whites legend Gray insists he has been “unfortunate” with the goals he has conceded.

Gray believes that young shot-stopper was massively impressive against Sunderland as he made a number of top saves to earn his team a point.

“I thought he played very well today the young goalkeeper,” Gray told LUTV.

“I think he has done very well since he has come into the side. He has no chance with the Sunderland goal, he hit it like a rocket.

“He has been a bit unfortunate with the goals he has conceded since he came in because he has not really had a chance with any of them. I thought he done well today, thought the young boy played terrific.”

OPINION

Peacock-Farrell appears to be seizing his chance in the first team to prove that he can be the number one next season for Leeds, with the likes of Andy Lonergan and Felix Wiedwald failing earlier in the campaign.. Manager Paul Heckingbottom has now started him in the last six consecutive matches and he has produced some eye-catching moments already. The Whites have had several young players come through their academy in recent years and it appears that the goalkeeper may be the next off that production line. He has shown that he is a brilliant shot-stopper and he can only continue impressing in the remaining games of the season.
