Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina – and the club’s supporters on Twitter are divided about whether he would be a good signing or not.

French newspaper L’Equipe have reported that Jurgen Klopp’s side are keen on landing the 24-year-old midfield enforcer.

It is understood that the Merseyside club are casting their eye over the Gabon international, who is still under contract with the Saints until 2022 as he only joined in the summer.

Liverpool have signed six players directly from Southampton since 2014, with centre-back Virgil Van Dijk the most recent player to make the switch from St Mary’s to Anfield.

Lemina is now being eyed by the Reds and he has been a key player for the Saints so far this campaign.

The central midfielder usually operates in front of the back four as he sees out his defensive role, while he is also technically gifted and a great passer.

Liverpool fans on social media are divided on a potential Lemina transfer as some feel he could hit the ground running in Jurgen Klopp’s squad, while others have urged the club to stop raiding Southampton.

Lemina has impressed during his first taste of English football this year and has previous experience at Juventus, Marseille and FC Lorient.
