OPINION

Rangers crashed back down to earth with a deflating 3-2 loss to bitter rivals Celtic at Ibrox on Sunday, and there were several average performances across the pitch for the Gers.

Josh Windass opened the scoring for Gers after just three minutes as he capitalised on a terrible error from the returning Dedryck Boyata to bear down on goal and slot emphatically past Scott Bain.

Rangers’ lead did not last long however as Celtic attacking midfielder Tom Rogic advanced on the Gers defence before beautifully curling home a left-footed shot past Wes Foderingham.

Centre-back David Bates was extremely unlucky as Rogic caught his ankle on his follow through, an injury which forced the 21-year-old off the pitch for Fabio Cardoso.

Rangers then regained their composure and found themselves in the lead again, with Daniel Candeias striking a lovely half-volley through a crowd of Celtic players after a brilliant cross from Declan John.

Celtic however managed to hit back before the break with Scott Brown finding Moussa Dembele with a ball over the top, and the Frenchman made no mistake as he chipped Foderingham to level the scores.

Rangers were then handed a massive opportunity in the second-half when Jozo Simunovic was sent off for elbowing Alfredo Morelos, but instead it was the Hoops that took the lead for the first time in the match.

Substitute striker Odsonne Edouard received the ball on the left wing before being allowed to cut inside and curl a beautiful finish past Foderingham to win the match for Celtic.
