Chris Sutton has waxed lyrical about Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane and explained he prefers him to Manchester City counterpart Leroy Sane.

The two left-wingers have been in blistering form for their respective teams this season and have earned rave reviews.

Mane has been an ever-present in Jurgen Klopp’s side and frightens defences with his raw pace.

The 25-year-old has made 31 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring 14 goals and supplying seven assists.

He is renowned for his high work-rate and is part of a deadly trio alongside teammates Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.

Meanwhile, Sane has played a pivotal role in Man City’s side as they have already wrapped up the Carabao Cup and look set to win the Premier League title.

The 22-year-old German has made 38 appearances already this season, scoring 12 goals and supplying 15 assists.

Sutton has made a comparison between the Liverpool and Manchester City speed merchant, but is adamant that he would prefer Mane in his side.

“I’m such a big fan of his (Mane),” Sutton said, as quoted by eir Sport’s Twitter account.

“He’s got raw pace and talent, but he’s backed that up now with assists and goals. Everybody is raving about Sane at Manchester City, I’d take Mane over him everyday of the week.”

OPINION

Sutton has made a sensational claim when comparing the two wingers and based on this season’s form you’d have to say he is wrong. Sane has reached a new level this campaign under the tutelage of manager Pep Guardiola and he is also three years younger than his Liverpool rival. Man City and Liverpool have had the best two frontlines in the Premier League this campaign that have been ripping defences to shreds on a regular basis. The width that their wingers give them is so crucial and Sane quite often hogs the touchline before bursting infield, something that has drawn comparisons with Manchester United great Ryan Giggs.
