Leeds United goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald has been dropped for the Championship fixture against Wolves, according to a reliable journalist.

Yorkshire Evening Post’s chief football writer Phil Hay has claimed on his personal Twitter account that youngster Bailey Peacock-Farrell will start in goal on Wednesday night against the league leaders.

Paul Heckingbottom appears to have made a huge decision with his team selection and axed Wiedwald, who has been a mainstay in the team and the number one option.

However, the 27-year-old has come under severe criticism for several mistakes and was recently poor in the 3-0 defeat to Middlesbrough.

The German shot-stopper has started the last 17 consecutive league matches for the Yorkshire giants, but looks set to be sidelined for the match against Wolves.

Meanwhile, Peacock-Farrell looks primed to make just his second senior appearance for Leeds, with his first one coming back in April 2016 against QPR.

OPINION

Heckingbottom appears to have made the huge decision that fans have been crying out for as Wiedwald finally drops out of the starting XI. He has been suspect all season and his form of late simply hasn’t been good enough as he has costed his team in vital moments. However, there is now immense pressure on 21-year-old Peacock-Farrell to make a good impression against the best team in the Championship so far this season. The goalkeeper position has been an issue at Elland Road all season and Peacock-Farrell could stake a huge claim if he performs in a big fixture.
