Tottenham’s Under-19s side completed a penalty shootout win over Monaco on Wednesday afternoon – and the club’s supporters on Twitter were blown away by the performance of goalkeeper Brandon Austin.

Spurs’ youth team beat the French side 3-1 on penalties in the UEFA Youth League round of 16.

Scott Parker’s side progressed to the quarter-finals of the competition as they edged the penalty shootout, with the goalkeeper taking many plaudits for his role.

Monaco were in front courtesy of a Nabil Alioui goal on the stroke of half-time, but Spurs hit back shortly after the break as Keanan Bennetts unleashed a brilliant long-range effort that curled into the net.

Spurs fans got the opportunity to watch their rising stars in the televised match and it was shot-stopper Austin who caught the eye and received a lot of praise on social media.

The 19-year-old goalkeeper is a highly-rated talent at the North London club and made several times in 90 minutes before his penalty heroics.

He is yet to make his first-team debut, but one fan on social media even suggested he should get a call-up to the senior squad.

Spurs currently have senior players Hugo Lloris, Michel Vorm and Paulo Gazzaniga in the mix for the number one jersey.

However, first-team manager Mauricio Pochettino has shown in the past he is willing to promote young players if they are good enough to make the step up and Austin could be a name to look out for in the future.
