Tottenham are reportedly lining up a summer move for Crystal Palace attacker Wilfried Zaha, but they should abandon those plans as January signing Lucas Moura is a better alternative.

The Times report Spurs are considering a fresh move for long-term target Zaha at the end of the season, who is currently on a £100,000-a-week deal at Selhurst Park.

It is understood that the 25-year-old could cost more than £50million to sign given his importance to the Premier League side.

Spurs have been frequently linked with Zaha in the past year and it’s true that Mauricio Pochettino has needed some extra pace in wide areas.

Zaha has proven he is excellent in the English top flight and has immense power and pace that can be unplayable.

However, the Ivory Coast international is injury prone and to fork out nearly £50million would be a ridiculous deal for Spurs.

Pochettino needs to look a little closer to home as they solved their problem in the New Year window as they clinched a deal for Moura from Paris Saint-Germain for a reported £23million deal.

The 25-year-old has arrived at the club with a wealth of experience from his time with the French giants and the right-winger has the blistering speed that Spurs have been crying out for.

There is already the likes of Heung-Min Son, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli thriving in the final third, which leaves Moura as the missing piece of the jigsaw with his pace.

It seems unlikely that Zaha could get ahead of those types of players in the pecking order and at a colossal eight-figure transfer fee is simply not worth the risk.

Meanwhile, Moura is the ace in Pochettino’s sleeve who looks an incredible purchase at just £23million and has the potential to rip apart Premier League defences.
