Rangers star Josh Windass is reportedly set to sign a new contract at Ibrox that will take him through to 2021, and fans have taken to Twitter to react with delight at the news.

The forward has been in scintillating form for the Light Blues this season, scoring seven goals and laying on eight assists in 24 Premiership appearances.

He has added five further goals to his tally in the Scottish Cup, including a double against Ayr United at the weekend as Rangers progressed to the quarter-finals.

According to the Evening Times, the 24-year-old has agreed a bumper new deal with the club, committing himself to the club for the next three-and-a-half years.

Windass is reportedly to follow in the footsteps of James Tavernier, who signed a similar deal with the club last week to stay until 2021.

The report also states that talks are ongoing with star striker Alfredo Morelos, who has been the subject of big-money interest from China.

Windass has come in for some controversy recently, gesturing at Rangers fans to be quiet after scoring against Partick Thistle.

The forward has since apologised for the gesture and made amends with his cup double that sealed a big 6-1 win and their passage to the last-eight, and fans have seemingly now forgiven him for his antics.
