Leeds United have revealed that Paul Heckingbottom has taken charge as their new manager on Tuesady morning – and the club’s supporters have given mixed responses on Twitter to the news.

The Whites confirmed on their official website that the 40-year-old have been appointed as the new boss at Elland Road.

They have moved quickly to find a successor to Thomas Christiansen, who only left the Yorkshire giants on Sunday.

Heckingbottom has left Championship strugglers Barnsley to complete his move to Leeds and is a highly-rated young English manager.

He previously helped them earn promotion from League One and helped them to a 14th place finish in the Championship last year.

Heckingbottom has penned an 18-month deal with Leeds keeping him at the club until 2019 and will be in the dugout for the first time at the weened away to Sheffield United.

He will immediately be tasked with trying to get his new club back in the promotion picture and they are seven points adrift of the play-off positions as it stands.

Leeds fans on social media are uncertain about the appointment as some feel they have taken a gamble on a fairly inexperienced manager, while others are excited to see what he can bring to the side.
