Harry Kane has claimed that Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has had the biggest impact on his footballing career so far.

The 24-year-old has developed into one of the world’s best centre-forwards under the tutelage of Pochettino during the past few seasons.

Kane chalked up 100 Premier League goals at the weekend in the 2-2 draw against Liverpool and is being tipped to even surprise Alan Shearer’s all-time tally of 260.

The England international has already managed 31 goals in 32 games across all competitions this season and has developed into a real talent.

Kane has made the huge admission that nobody has influenced his career more than current boss Pochettino, who is widely adored by the club’s supporters for his work with the north London club.

“No one has had a bigger impact on my career than Mauricio, and that’s because he didn’t just bring a fantastic managerial philosophy to the club, he also brought us all very close together,” Kane wrote in The Players’ Tribute.

“I respect him as a manager and as a boss, of course — but he’s really my friend outside of football, as well. He’s the reason why our squad has become so close — we’re genuine mates, and I think that’s rare in football nowadays.”

OPINION

Pochettino has become renowned for producing nurturing young English talents during his time with Southampton and Spurs, with Kane the best to come off that production line. The striker has developed into a supremely confident attacker and he looks like scoring every time he plays. There is no doubt that the attacking style of the manager has allowed Kane to evolve into such a prolific goalscorer and there has also been a lot of hard work go into it. Some Spurs fans are concerned they could lose their talisman further down the line if they fail to win silverware, but with Pochettino still at the helm they should not be too concerned.
