Vinnie Jones revealed that he believes Leeds United need to add some experienced pros to their squad in order to win promotion to the Premier League.

The former Whites midfielder shared what he would do if he was asked to manage the club and admitted that Leeds currently lacked the experience needed to get out of the Championship.

“If I actually did get a call to say ‘right, come and help sort us out, come in as gaffer’, you know what I would do?” stated Jones in an interview with The Sun.

“I’d get all the seasoned pros in, pros that have been there and done that.

“It’s one of the hardest leagues out there, to get out of it is unbelievable.

“You need a dirty dozen, I call them the dirty dozen, some experienced pros in there.”

The retired footballer who was known for his no-nonsense style of football went on to name Liverpool’s James Milner as the type of player the club needed.

“I was thinking last night, listening to the Liverpool game, James Milner,” said Jones.

“People like Milner who could come in, they are still great athletes and the rest of it, I think to really get out of that league you need that.”

The Liverpool midfielder started his career at Leeds United before leaving the club in 2004 to join Newcastle United.

The Whites are currently without a manager after the club confirmed on Sunday via their official website that Thomas Christiansen had left the club after being in charge for only seven-and-a-half months.

OPINION

Well based on what he would hypothetically do at the club, Leeds United shouldn’t put Jones in charge. The club would benefit from the return of Milner, but the squad doesn’t needed to be flooded with experience. Jones is right that experience is vital to getting out of the Championship but the Whites already have enough in their current squad to win promotion. Leeds’ problems have been caused by other issues such as their poor disciplinary record. If Christiansen hadn’t seen so many players ruled out through suspension this season, the Danish manager probably wouldn’t have failed to win his last seven games in charge.
