Paul Heckingbottom failed to guide Leeds United to their first win of 2018 as they drew with Derby 2-2 on Wednesday night at Pride Park.

The former Barnsley manager is yet to get his first win since succeeding Thomas Christiansen as Leeds’ manager even though Ezgjan Alioski scored with only 12 minutes left of the game.

Leeds also took the lead in the game after Pierre-Michel Lasogga scored in the 34th minute and after grabbing the first goal it appeared that the Whites may be spurred on to earn all three points.

However, the Rams got themselves back on level terms before half time with Andreas Weimann scoring with almost the last kick of the half.

After emerging from the half time break, both teams had opportunities to take the lead but it was Leeds who seemed in control of the game.

Heckingbottom’s side worked hard to make their possession count and Alioski who replaced Pablo Hernandez in the 75th minute, managed to score shortly after coming on.

Even though he scored with not long left, Derby equalised in the 92nd minute with Kasey Palmer getting on the scoresheet.

Leeds are next in action on Saturday as they host Brentford at Elland Road.
