Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has predicted that Leeds will play out an entertaining draw with Derby when the two teams meet at Pride Park on Wednesday in a crucial Championship clash.

Leeds come into the clash off the back of a stirring comeback in a 2-2 draw with Bristol City on Sunday, a result which brought new boss Paul Heckingbottom his first point in charge.

The Whites went 2-0 down within 16 minutes against the Robins, but staged a massive second-half comeback through Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Kemar Roofe to snatch a point.

Derby did not play at the weekend, but are on a worrying run of form having won just one game in their last five, and have slipped from second to fourth in recent weeks.

In his predicitions for Sky Sports, Prutton predicted a 2-2 draw, and said: “Derby’s recent form might be starting to concern Gary Rowett. A few weeks ago they looked hot favourites to finish second behind Wolves, but only one win in five has allowed Cardiff and Aston Villa to climb back above them.

“Leeds will be feeling good after that late comeback against Bristol City, but draws aren’t good enough for them if they’re going to get anywhere near the top six again. Both teams have to go for this one, and I’m backing an entertaining draw.”

OPINION

Leeds will, as Prutton says, be feeling good after their comeback against Bristol, but their first-half performance was seriously worrying against the Robins. There were no redeeming features for Heckingbottom heading into the break, which makes you wonder what happened in the dressing room to spark such a revival. Anyhow, the Whites have to move on, and a clash against Derby is a good platform to reignite their now unlikely push for the play-offs.
