Leeds United loanee Pierre-Michel Lasogga has revealed that he will decide his long-term future at the end of the season as he expressed his delight at the back of the club’s fans.

The 26-year-old joined the Whites on a season long loan from Hamburg in August, with the club, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, paying £15,000-per-week of his £50,000-a-week wage during the course of his loan.

The local newspaper’s report also revealed that Leeds have an option to sign him at the end of the loan included in their original agreement.

Lasogga has made 21 appearances for Leeds this season across all competitions scoring eight goals and grabbed Leeds’ only goal in their last league outing to Sheffield United.

“I’m very happy that the fans are behind me like this, it’s not normal so I’m very confident when they say something like this,” said the centre-forward, as quoted by Leeds Live.

“The decision is not now in my head, so after the season I will sit with my family.

“I have a year left on my contract in Hamburg, so I need to speak first to them and then we will see what happens.”

OPINION

Lasogga hasn’t exactly set the world alight since joining Leeds in the summer, experiencing a poor run of form towards the end of 2017, but it could be argued he hasn’t been helped by his teammates. The centre-forward has the potential to thrive for the Whites if given better service in the box. Leeds must do their best to hold on to Lasogga as losing him in the summer would be a backwards step. It’s hard to see who Leeds could sign with the same ability for a reasonable price to replace him upfront next season. So if there’s a chance that they can acquire him on a permanent basis, the club need to.
