Premier League giants Arsenal are reportedly planning to end Carl Jenkinson’s loan spell at Birmingham to allow him a loan move elsewhere, something that should catch the eye of Leeds United.

The Daily Mail claims that the Gunners may rip up the defender’s loan deal at Championship club Birmingham as he has made just one appearance all season.

The 25-year-old missed a large spell of the campaign with a dislocated shoulder, but has yet to get a look in recently despite returning to full fitness.

Leeds should now plot a January move to bring the right-back to Elland Road and should feel confident of securing a deal given Arsenal’s desire for him to play out on loan.

Thomas Christiansen is need of a new full-back and Jenkinson would certainly fit the bill.

Luke Ayling has suffered a season-ending injury for the Whites and that leaves just Gaetano Berardi as the only senior option as the right-sided defender.

Leeds could need an extra body in defence in their promotion bid and grabbing Arsenal’s defender would be a great bit of business.

Jenkinson may not be enjoying the best of spells with Birmingham, but he had hardly had the chance and on his day would be formidable in the Championship.

The Englishman has a wealth of experience under his belt in both the Premier League and Champions league, while he has also represented his nation once.

He is a dependable right-back that likes to push forward and someone with his know-how could be a great boost in the Leeds dressing room.
