Rangers fans were angry and confused on social media, after being linked with a loan move for Emerson Hyndman.
The Sun reported that the Bournemouth midfielder was poised to head back to the Gers on loan with Graeme Murty making him a priority target.
The 21-year-old had a loan spell at the Light Blues last season, and was impressive in the 17 appearances he made.
However, fans didn’t understand the clubs need to sign a centre-midfielder, when they already have plenty of options.
One supporter said the report would only make sense if the club started selling players, while another simply questioned how many midfielders do Rangers actually need.
A few fans were concerned about the effect Hyndman would have joining club on Rangers’ pursuit of Greg Docherty.
The Daily Record previously reported that the Light Blues had a £300,000 offer for the Hamilton midfielder rejected, and supporters were keen for the club to try again.
One fan claimed that the transfer window would be ruined if Rangers opted to sign Hyndman instead of Docherty.
Docherty has been impressive at Hamilton this season, creating six goals, while also scoring three in 25 appearances.
The Gers have signed several players in the January window, welcoming; Russell Martin, Jason Cummings, Sean Goss and Declan John to the club.
