Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to express their delight that their club are heavily linked to signing Derby County striker Chris Martin.
Sky Sports claimed in their live transfer blog (Monday, 4pm) that Leeds have set their sights on a potential loan deal for Martin and have made an approach to Derby about taking the player for the remainder of the season.
The second-placed Championship side are close to signing Cameron Jerome from Norwich City, which could pave the way for Scotland international Martin to leave this month.
He has lost his regular starting place in the last month and has scored just one goal from 25 matches in all competitions this season.
Leeds are in the market for a new striker after disappointing returns from their front players in recent months, with the team’s last three league matches failing to yield a goal.
Supporters are keen for a new arrival to challenge Pierre-Michel Lasogga, Kemar Roofe, Jay-Roy Grot and the injured Caleb Ekuban for the spearhead role.
A section of the Elland Road faithful took to social media in the aftermath of reports by Sky and others that Leeds are pushing for Martin and many are in dreamland at the prospect of him joining.
