Kris Boyd has slammed Rangers for unsettling players by bidding below their asking prices, with his rant triggered by the club’s recent attempts to sign Jordan Jones and Jamie Walker.

The Light Blues were reported to have made an offer for Boyd’s Kilmarnock teammate Jones, in the region of £350,000 according to the Scottish Sun.

The bid was rejected with the Daily Record reporting that Kilmarnock believe the winger is worth in the region of £1million.

Boyd spoke of the Gers’ offer for Jones when accepting his player of the month award for December.

“It pretty much sums it up as there’s a common theme the whole time,” stated Boyd, as quoted by the Daily Record.

“There’s one club unsettling everybody, if they want players then pay the money and come and take them.

“We all know how football works, if a deal has been agreed and Jordan is happy with it, then go and pay the price to the football club.

“Jamie Walker was the exact same. There’s a list, we could go on and on.

“There’s calls been made and nothing has been backed up to do something about it. Pay the money and take the players if you want them. It’s easy to unsettle players now.

“This club is not in a position where it needs to sell and certainly won’t give away one of its assets for next to nothing.”

The former Rangers forward went on to reveal that Kilmarnock had no need to sell Jones and that they weren’t going to give away an asset for “next to nothing.”

Boyd shared that if the Gers really wanted the 23-year-old winger than they’d pay what Kilmarnock was asking.

Jones has captured the Light Blues’ attention with dazzling performance this season, as he has featured 25 times, scored three goals and registered three assists.

OPINION

Boyd is absolutely right about Rangers knowing what they’re doing, however he’s wrong to single them out. The forward is more than aware, that several clubs submit bids in order to try their luck. At the end of the day, every team wants to secure the best talent available for the lowest possible price. While the forward clearly doesn’t want to see his highly-rated teammate depart; he didn’t need to involve himself in this transfer saga. It’s a bizarre rant to go on, considering he’s still involved with football. Boyd would have been better suited to simply not comment on Jones’ situation, as his rant has achieved nothing but negative attention.
