Leeds United boss Thomas Christiansen has confirmed that midfielder Ouasim Bouy is set to depart Elland Road on loan in January.

The 24-year-old only signed for the Whites in the summer and was immediately sent out on loan to Spanish club Cultural Leonesa.

He has now retuned to the Yorkshire giants after a brief spell and Christiansen has explained that he held showdown talks with the player on Friday about his future.

Leeds are now set to try find defensive midfielder Bouy another loan for the second half of the campaign and supporters may have to wait until next season to see him in action in England.

“It’s a player that I didn’t really know much about,” Christiansen said, as quoted by Leeds Live.

“It’s a good player, it was my first talks with him today. The idea is to find him another loan.”

OPINION

It appears like Bouy does not feature in Leeds’ immediate plans and it is hard to see if he ever well. The Moroccan spent a few months with Spanish second-tier club Cultural Leonesa and the fact that he made just four appearances across all competitions shows his current level. Leeds do have serious competition in the middle of the park with the likes of Kalvin Phillips, Ronaldo Vieira and Eunan O’Kane already in the frame. Bouy is a versatile player that can play in either defence or midfield, but he will need to seriously impress out on loan in the second half of the season if he is to carve out a future at Elland Road. His most successful stint to date was in the Dutch top flight with PEC Zwolle, but it seems a first Leeds appearance is still some way off.
