Liverpool goalkeeper Adam Bogdan is most likely to be the next Leeds United signing this month, according to Football Whispers.

Sky Sports’ live transfer blog regularly plugs its Football Whispers section, which claimed on Monday (7.52am) that Bogdan, 30, has a strong chance of becoming the latest arrival at Elland Road.

Football Whispers, which gathers all transfer rumours across the globe and calculates the likelihood of them happening, rates it 4 out of 5 that Bogdan will join Leeds ahead of Wednesday’s cut-off as it made the top 10 of the most likely deals for British clubs.

Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Phil Hay reported on his personal Twitter account last week that the 6ft 4in keeper has been targeted as a possible loan replacement for Andy Lonergan, who is wanted by Championship rivals Sunderland.

Bogdan is well down the pecking order at Anfield and has not made an appearance for the Premier League giants since May 2016 when he played in a 1-1 draw with West Brom at the Hawthorns.

The Hungary international was sent out on loan to Wigan last season and was in fine form before breaking down with a serious knee injury and had to be recalled.

Good move for Leeds?

Despite their fourth place in the Premier League, Liverpool are not known for their reliability in goal but Bogdan has struggled to make an impact since joining from Bolton in the summer of 2015. With Loris Karius, Simon Mignolet and Danny Ward ahead of him in the pecking order, Hungarian is likely to be desperate for first team action after spending last season on loan at Wigan, which was cruelly cut short. Bogdan is jittery when confronted by set pieces but he has smart reflexes and would certainly be an upgrade on Lonergan. He could turn out to be a very shrewd loan signing for Leeds.

Likely to happen?

Thomas Christiansen admitted at his media briefing today that Lonergan could be gone by Wednesday night. If that happens, expect a replacement to come in virtually simultaneously and that man could well be Bogdan.
