Premier League club Burnley have submitted a bid to sign Nottingham Forest defenderJoe Worrall, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claims that Sean Dyche’s side have launched an offer for the centre-back worth up to £10million.

It is understood that the Clarets have been chasing the England Under-21 international in recent weeks and have now made contract in the final few days of the January transfer window.

The report details that Burnley, who are flying high in eighth in the Premier League, have cash to spend and are targeting Forest’s mainstay defender.

Good move for Forest?

Forest certainly shouldn’t be cashing in on their star centre-back Worrall, who is an integral part of the starting XI.

The Championship side need to dig their heels in over his signature and ask for closer to £20million for his signature.

His price tag will shoot up is he continues to perform at the City Ground in the second half of the season and there is no need to sell him in January.

Likely to happen?

Burnley have stepped up their interest in Worrall with a serious eight-figure bid late in the window, but it seems unlikely that Forest would sanction his exit for the proposed £10million fee.

The price of players has shot up even further in the past 12 months and the highly-rated English defender is one of several stars developing at Forest.
