Leeds fans rip into Monk on Twitter

|

Middlesbrough boss Garry Monk has delivered a frank verdict over his side’s recent poor form – and Leeds United fans on Twitter couldn’t resist poking fun at their former manager.

There is certainly still bad blood between the Yorkshire giants and the 38-year-old following his departure from Elland Road in the summer after just a year in charge.

Monk decided to take the hottest at the Riverside and was expected to launch a serious promotion bid with them.

Boro are currently ninth in the Championship table, with Leeds coincidently a place above them, and are currently six points adrift of the play-off spots.

Monk’s side have lost back-to-back league games in the league to Bristol City and Derby to leave fans worried about their promotion chances this campaign.

The English manager posted an apology to Boro fans on social media and vowed to tutor his team’s form around, with the club facing Ipswich in their next clash at the weekend.

“No excuses from the last couple of games. Our fans deserve much better. We must give every ounce we have this week to produce a reaction,” Monk wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Leeds fans on social media didn’t miss out on the opportunity to respond to their former boss and are thrilled that he is currently struggling at Boro.

Leeds are one of several teams that are hopeful of being in the promotion mix come the end of the season and just missed out on the top six last campaign under Monk.

Thomas Christiansen is the new manager at the helm for the Whites and his team have shown in glimpses they can be a real force in the division, but are still searching for consistency in their performances.
