Pawel Cibicki was handed his first league start for Leeds United in their Championship clash against Norwich City on Saturday – and fans took to Twitter to rave about his opening-period display.
Cibicki was given the nod to start for the home side in a wide forward role even though Pablo Hernandez was pronounced fit after missing the win at QPR last weekend with a hamstring injury.
The summer signing from Malmo justified his selection by setting up the opening goal with a free-kick from out wide that was glanced in at the near post by Pontus Jansson, his second goal in consecutive Elland Road fixtures.
Cibicki’s set pieces were impressive throughout the first half and helped Leeds dominate as they went into the break with a 1-0 lead with hopes of continuing their recent resurgence with another win.
The Elland Road faithful took to Twitter to express their satisfaction with the 23-year-old’s performance, with many commenting on his excellent delivery from set pieces.
