Leeds United have been given a major injury boost as striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga is expected to return to the squad against QPR, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The regional newspaper claims that the 25-year-old has returned to training this weekend ahead of Saturday’s away clash against QPR in the Championship.

The report details the German is set to return to the 18-man squad at Loftus Road after recovering from illness.

Lasogga has watched on from the sidelines in the last four league matches and will be desperate to return to the action at the weekend.

The powerful centre-forward has been a key player at Elland Road so far this campaign, scoring five goals and supplying four assists in 11 games across all competitions.

He has made an immediate impact in the side since he joined on loan from Hamburg and his physical strength has been a big miss at the point of attack.

Thomas Christiansen has tried two different options during his absence, with both Kemar Roofe and Caleb Ekuban impressing with their chances up top.

OPINION

Lasogga is now set to pose a big dilemma for Christiansen with regards to his starting XI as Ekuban has looked very lively in attack during recent games. Leeds have several different attacking options in their squad and Lasogga is more traditional centre-forward, while others are prepared to run the channels. The German will feel he should be immediately reinstated to the team against QPR, but the manager may find it difficult to drop Ekuban based on current form. It is a good problem for the Yorkshire giants to have moving forward and will need to find different ways to win if they are to end up in the promotion mix this season.
