Leeds United jetted out scouts for three different games in France over the last week in a major hint to their forthcoming transfer activity, according to a recruitment insider.

Twitter account Scouts in Attendance, who are a reliable source of transfer information, claim that the Championship big hitters had representatives at Bordeaux’s defeat on Friday night and Toulouse’s win 24 hours later.

Those two matches were both league encounters and Leeds scouts also attended the cup match between Bordeaux and Toulouse on Tuesday.

While there is no hint given as to who the club might have been keeping eyes on during their triple header, it indicates a change of tack from recent transfer missions, with a strong focus on the German and Spanish markets.

Leeds fans will be intrigued as to why their club have had scouts at three French matches in five days. Clearly, the promotion hopefuls are keeping close tabs on at least two players, most likely one apiece from Bordeaux and Toulouse. Supporters will be excited that Victor Orta’s recruitment team are assessing players from the clubs placed 14th and 16th in Ligue 1, which is a higher standard that the English second tier. Given Leeds’ attendance, it can be assumed that the men being watched are in the first team rather than the fringes. Leeds bought 16 senior players over the summer and have reportedly already wrapped up a January deal for Japan international Yosuke Ideguchi before loaning him out next month. Supporters will be excited that the club are working hard on strengthening the squad.
