Ezgjan Alioski starred for Macedonia in their 2-0 international friendly win against Norway on Saturday night – and Leeds United fans are looking forward to him making a similar impact for their club.
Attacking midfielder Alioski has had difficult start to life at Elland Road despite being a regular member of the starting XI for the Championship’s 10th-placed side.
The winger has been named in the starting XI for 14 of Leeds’ 16 league fixtures this season but has been criticised by supporters for contributing just two goals and two assists.
Many Leeds fans claimed that Alioski had been off the pace for a number of matches, with his lack of penetration from his wide right role a real concern.
But the international break has provided an opportunity for the United summer signing to regain his confidence while representing his national team.
Alioski played a key role as his country beat Norway at home, providing the assist for the opener with a brilliant outside-of-the-boot pass from the left flank into the path of Goran Pandev.
This has encouraged Leeds fans, who took to social media to hail Alioski’s creativity and urge him to replicate the form he has demonstrated for his country and ex-club Lugano in the Swiss league last season.

To me this says that if Lasogga moves, players like Alioski will find him all day. Massively need a mobile striker. Roofe for now but need to buy a quality, mobile striker in Jan. Ings? Mitrovic? #lufc https://t.co/sqInkrB37g
