Tottenham are still in the market for midfield sensation Nadiem Amiri from German club Hoffenheim, according to Bild.

The German newspaper claims that Spurs are chasing the 21-year-old, who is regarded as a highly-rated talent at his current club.

It is understood that the North London side were keen to sign the Germany Under-21 international last season, but he decided to extend his contract with Hoffenheim until 2020.

The report details that RB Leipzig have also shortlisted playmaker Amiri as a potential replacement for Naby Keita, who will join Liverpool at the end of the season.

Good move for Spurs?

Amiri is an exciting talent in the German league and is someone that is being tipped to become a future star.

The youngster is a playmaker that usually plays in the number 10 role behind the striker, but also has the versatility to fill in out wide or in a deeper position.

He has shown that he is a well balanced player that has a good turn of speed and a creative side to his game, but will want to increase his statistic.

Amiri has scored three goals in his 13 games so far this season across all competitions and is trying to cement his spot in the Hoffenheim XI.

Spurs are always on the search for the next big star and Mauricio Pochettino certainly has a knack of unearthing gems, something that Amiri could well be under his guidance.

Likely to happen?

Spurs have already been rebuffed once in their pursuit of Amiri and the likelihood is he will stay in the Bundesliga for now.

The attacking midfielder is still trying to nail down his position at senior level and it’s unlikely he would walk into Pochettino’s side immediately.

He is still playing top-flight football and is experiencing the Europa League, but may need another season under his belt before he moves to the Premier League.
