Tottenham have been given a huge boost in their bid to keep talisman Harry Kane after Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is reportedly not interested in the striker after talks with club president Florentino Perez.

Spanish outlet Don Balon claims that the Frenchman is concerned that the 24-year-old will struggle to adapting playing abroad sighting Gareth Bale despite his success at the Bernabeu.

The report claims Zidane is desperate to snap up Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann and Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard rather than pursue Kane.

Good move for Tottenham?

With Zidane reportedly closing the door on Kane’s arrival to the Spanish capital, Spurs supporters can take a deep breath and live in hope that their best asset will stay in North London for the foreseeable future.

It’s fascinating that the Real Madrid boss has used Bale as an example because although the Welshman has played a crucial part in helping the team achieve back-to-back Champions League titles, there are rumours that he hasn’t endeared himself to the rest of his teammates.

Although this is great news for Spurs, the player himself might be a bit disappointed that he has been denied the chance to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world due to previous failures from Brits abroad.

With Kane not on his list, Spurs will still have to be mindful of Madrid’s transfer plans with speculation surrounding their interest in Dele Alli gaining momentum, especially after his brace against them earlier on in the season.

Likely to happen?

Although the report claims that Zidane is not keen to acquire Kane’s services, the main man at the club is president Perez and if he is still interested in the Spurs man, he will continue his pursuit.

With regards to this potential deal, it mainly depends on whether Tottenham can go that one step further and win some silverware to go their fantastic progression under current boss Mauricio Pochettino.

If Spurs continue to settle for second place, it might encourage the likes of Kane and Alli to look elsewhere in order to achieve success.
