Ray Parlour believes that Tottenham are a better side than Arsenal with the North London rivals scheduled to face each other after the international break.

Spurs will travel to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday for a Premier League clash as domestic football resumes after a two-week break.

Mauricio Pocehttino’s side are currently third in the league table and are seen as one of the main challengers to runaway leaders Manchester City.

Meanwhile, the Gunners are sixth-placed in the league standings and are four points behind their local rivals.

Ex-Arsenal midfielder Parlour has confessed that Spurs are currently streaks ahead of his former club and heaped tremendous praise on

Pochettino’s side finished above their rivals last season in the Premier League and it was the first in 22 years that it had been achieved.

“I have lots of people ask me ‘Who is the best side, Tottenham or Arsenal?’ and I have to say the league doesn’t lie,” Parlour told AskFans.

“Tottenham came above Arsenal last season so they are better – simple.

“They have got a really good squad, an excellent manager in Pochettino and they are great to watch.”

OPINION

Spurs are undoubtedly the top side in North London as it stands and will hope to emphasise that point at the weekend during the trip to the Emirates. They will need to keep winning if they are to apply any kind of pressure in the title race and will be desperate to leapfrog Manchester United into second. However, it will also be a pivotal fixture for Arsenal and a defeat could see them begin to drift away from the Champions League spots at this early stage of the season. Arsene Wenger’s side do have several match winners in their squad and Spurs will need to be particularly wary of star man Alexis Sanchez, who has the quality to turn the game on its head.
