Kilmarnock midfielder Dominic Thomas has revealed on social media that he will never sign for Rangers.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed a fine run in the Kilmarnock first-team this season, featuring in a total of 12 matches and contributing with two goals and four assists in the process.

However, the midfielder has failed to provide a single goal or assist in the league which has contributed to Steve Clarke’s side just one point above the relegation zone.

Thomas has also become a regular for the Under-21 Scotland national team, making four appearances in the European Championship qualifying matches.

The Kilmarnock man was questioned on his personal Twitter account on Sunday afternoon whether he would join the Ibrox club and his response was emphatic, stating that he would not contemplate signing for them “in a million years.”

OPINION

With his social media comment, Thomas has surely gained himself a number of Celtic followers on his account. The midfielder is likely to receive a warm reception from the Hoops faithful when both teams face each other in the SPL after the new year. However, the Under-21 international can expect a hostile reaction from the Rangers supporters when they travel to Rugby Park at the end of December. It’s not often a player categorically reveals to the public that he has no intentions of playing for another club but this is the power of social media. It’ll be interesting to know whether someone at Kilmarnock will have a quiet word with Thomas with regards to answering fans on his account in the future, as it could provoke an unwanted reaction.
