Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich could leave the club as early as January, according to Przeglad Sportowy.

The Polish news outlet claims that the 27-year-old could make a return to Holland in the New Year if his situation does not improve at Elland Road.

The Whites only signed the Poland international in the summer from Dutch outfit FC Twente, but his exit could be sanctioned in the January transfer window.

Klich has been unable to force his way into Thomas Christiansen’s plans so far this campaign and made just eight appearances across all competitions, with four coming in the Championship.

Good move for Leeds?

Leeds currently have an overload of midfielders in their squad and Klich is the one really struggling to force his way into the first team.

However, the Yorkshire giants should not sell the central midfielder in January as he is yet to have a real chance in the team and could still turn out to be a useful buy.

He has clearly not won over the manager yet, but impressed last season in Eredivisie so must have something about him.

Klich can be a goalscoring threat from the centre of the park and is technically sound in possession, but will have to continue being patient for his chance and seize it when it comes.

Likely to happen?

Klich’s future at Elland Road certainly doesn’t look clear and the 27-year-old will not want to remain a fringe player for too much longer.

The Polish midfielder was expected to make a big impact after leaving the top flight in Holland, but has barely got a look in ahead of the likes of Ronaldo Vieira, Eunan O’Kane and Kalvin Phillips are preferred.

His departure may come as a shock to some people if it comes in January, but this is a player that does have international experience already under his belt.
