Pablo Hernandez has heaped huge praise on to Leeds United teammates Kemar Roofe, Ezgkan Alioski and Samuel Saiz.

The trio have earned rave reviews from the 32-year-old after they helped inspire the Whites to a 2-1 win over Middlesbrough on Sunday in the Championship.

Thomas Christiansen was without striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga due to illness at the weekend, which meant he used an attacking set-up of Roofe, Hernandez, Alioski and Saiz.

Wide man Hernandez and Alioski were both on the scoresheet for the Yorkshire giants as they timed similar runs at the far post.

Meanwhile, Roofe got the rare chance to play in a more central role at the point of the attack where his pace threatened and ever-present Saiz was deployed in the playmaker number 10 role.

Hernandez has highlighted the influence of his attacking teammates in the win over Boro, which took them up to seventh in the Championship table.

“With these four players we lose the long ball and the challenge in the air, but we win the mobility,” Hernandez told LUTV.

“Roofe made good runs behind the defenders and this is good for the midfielders.

“Gianni (Alioski) on the right played very good, Samu (Saiz) with his mobility is good for our situation and to play better football.”

OPINION

The front four deployed by Christiansen against Boro worked exceptionally well and that is perhaps a system that Is best used at Elland Road. It allows Leeds to fit several technically gifted players into their side and they can cause damage in the final third if they have plenty of possession. However, when the Whites are playing on the road it makes more sense to bring physical presence Lasogga back into the XI. Christiansen should be able to rotate players dependent on the fixture and does have a good depth of players in his squad. Leeds travel to Wolves on Wednesday night and that is the sort of match where having a target man as a get out ball could be useful.
