David Prutton has predicted that Leeds will struggle against a rejuvenated Barnsley and only come away from Oakwell with a point.

Thomas Christiansen’s side kick off the weekend’s fixtures in the early game on Saturday, and they make the short trip to Barnsley for a Yorkshire derby.

Leeds went down heavily in their midweek fixture, succumbing 4-1 to league leaders Wolves after Ronaldo Vieira was sent off with the match evenly poised at 2-1.

Christiansen will be hoping the Whites can bounce back from that defeat and get their play-off push back on track, with the club now sitting in tenth on 26 points, three points off the promotion places.

David Prutton has however predicted they will struggle to get the result they need against Barnsley, and thinks the game will end 1-1.

In his predictions on Sky Sports, Prutton said: “A cracking way to start the weekend! It’s always a good atmosphere at Oakwell but it usually ratchets up a notch or two when Leeds come to town. Barnsley won this one in January, but they’ve got almost an entirely different team now and Paul Heckingbottom has done a fantastic job there.

“Leeds were hammered at Wolves in midweek but they won’t be the first or last side to get a hiding at Molineux this season, and this is another tough trip for them. Score draw for me.”

OPINION

The defeat against Wolves would have been a difficult one to digest for Thomas Christiansen. His side were well in the game after Ezgjan Alioski scored just after half-time, but their hopes vanished when Vieira saw red. Wolves romped away after that, showing the quality that they have done all season. A tough trip to Molineux is followed by a tough trip to Oakwell, but Christiansen must believe his side can win this game. Barnsley are coming off a home defeat to Cardiff, and have been shown to be fallible at Oakwell this season.
